Unlike air-cooled motors that depend on ambient conditions, a water-cooled submersible pump motor uses the surrounding water to regulate temperature — allowing sustained, high-load operation without overheating, even during peak irrigation hours.

An openwell submersible is designed for large-diameter open water sources — wells, tanks, and ponds. It has a wider motor body and can handle higher flow rates. A borewell pump is built for narrow drilled borewells (typically 80mm–250mm diameter) and is used for deeper groundwater extraction. If your water source is an open well or tank, an openwell submersible is the correct choice.
What HP openwell submersible pump do I need for farm irrigation?
The OMI Solar Submersible Pump (AC) is available for bore sizes from 3 inches (80mm) up to 8 inches (200mm). The correct bore size depends on your existing borewell casing diameter. Always match the pump diameter to your borewell — installing an oversized pump risks jamming, while an undersized one reduces flow efficiency. Can this openwell submersible pump run directly on solar panels without a battery?
Yes. The AC version runs on a solar VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) controller that converts DC power from solar panels directly into AC power for the motor. No battery bank is required for daytime operation. The pump runs when sunlight is available and automatically stops when light drops below operating threshold. For 24-hour operation, a battery storage system or grid hybrid setup is needed.
